# Security and deleting your account

> Change your email or password, reset a forgotten password, and delete your account or restore it within 30 days.

Open **Settings**, then **Security**.

## Change your email

Click **Change** next to your email, enter the **New email**, then **Send confirmation link**. Your email changes once you open the link from your new inbox.

## Change your password

Click **Change** next to your password, enter the new one twice, then **Save password**. Use a strong password you don't use anywhere else: 8 or more characters, with upper and lower case letters, a number and a symbol.

## Forgot your password?

1. On the login page, click **Forgot password?**
2. Enter your email and click **Send reset link**.
3. Open the link from your email, choose a new password, then **Update password**.

  Signed up with Google? Click **Continue with Google** on the login page instead of using a password.

## Delete your account

<Warning>
  If you have a paid subscription that still renews, cancel it in **Billing** first, then delete your account.
</Warning>

1. In **Security**, click **Delete my account**.
2. Type "delete my account" to confirm, then click **Delete my account**.

What happens next:

* Your account is disabled right away, and your document links stop working for your clients.
* We email you a restore link that's valid for 30 days.
* After 30 days, your documents, clients, files and data are permanently deleted, and they leave our backups within 90 days.

## Restore your account

Changed your mind within 30 days? Open the restore link we emailed you, and your account, documents and their links come back as they were. Can't find the link? Email [support@muqtarah.app](mailto:support@muqtarah.app).
